Mumbai, July 21 (UNI) Mumbai is expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting generally cloudy skies over the city and suburbs throughout the day.
The IMD has also warned of the possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places, accompanied by occasional gusty winds with speeds reaching 50-60 kmph.
According to official tide forecasts, a high tide of 3.64 metres is expected at 1653 hrs on Tuesday, followed by another high tide of 3.27 metres at 0557 hrs on Wednesday.
A low tide of 1.49 metres occurred at 2317 hrs on Monday, while the next low tide of 2.53 metres is expected at 1144 hrs on Tuesday.
Rainfall recorded during the 24-hour period ending at 0800 hrs on Tuesday showed that the eastern suburbs received the highest rainfall at 45.01 mm. The island city recorded 36.67 mm, while the western suburbs received 28.40 mm.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and disaster management authorities have advised citizens to exercise caution in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall, strong winds and high tide.
Residents have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from the seafront during high tide, and follow official weather advisories to ensure their safety.
